I saw hair extensions being done on a model at a hair show in New York City in 2014. I was so interested in them that I drove back to NYC the following weekend (it was sold out while I was there) to attend my first class. I was still a newer stylist and I didn't know anybody who did hair extensions. This method was i-tips by Dreamcatchers Hair Extensions. For the next few years I had a few clients here and there who wore extensions but I knew I needed to learn more and take more classes to get better. I spent up until 2020 taking as many classes as I could by every major brand. After the 2020 lockdown, when my salon opened back up, I knew I wanted to focus almost entirely on hair extensions and dropped other services I was doing so that extensions could be my main focus! In October of 2021 I took my first Invisible Bead Extension class. I knew that this would be the main method I did on all of my clients. While it was the most requested, it was also the best looking and most comfortable. Once I mastered IBE, I still felt like something was missing, and realized I needed to include toppers and wigs into my service menu so that everybody could be included in receiving alternative hair; not everyone is an extension candidate. I run my salon now as a wig and hair extension shop- it's what I'm meant to do!
