it's great to be back...
I can't believe that I was in China almost three months ago- I've still been processing and reflecting on so much since I got back, and I haven't been able to put into words everything I want to share! China was life changing in so many ways.
First, the appreciation I have towards the process of making all types of alternative hair has increased 1000%. Being in the factories and seeing the workers who make the hair by hand left me in awe- did you know that it takes up to twenty days to make ONE WEFT?!
I learned that my goals are bigger than I thought. I went to China for two main reasons: I thought it would be AWESOME (if you know me you know why), and because I felt like I wasn't a true specialist if I hadn't been to a hair making factory. What I didn't go for was to start my own brand. That's still true- kind of. Even though I don't want to create a brand for selling to other hair stylists, I see now that I've kept myself in a box of the same styles, lengths, colors, and textures that were dictated to me by purchasing from a big brand. (I still love them by the way.) Now, however, I'm ready to explore the customization options that are open to me, that I never new existed or had access to, from having a direct contact at the factories.
I am SO grateful for the experience, the growth I've had and will continue to have, and for all the relationships I formed along the way!
