Taking Weight Loss Medication? Your Hair Will Change...

Have you started taking weight loss medication recently? (Ozempic/ Tirzepatide/ Mounjaro etc.) Pay attention to your hair. As with any rapid weight loss, your hair will take a hit. People who lose weight quickly using weight loss injections (GLP-1s), will experience more shedding than usual. This is similar to when someone undergoes weight loss surgery and suffers thinning hair. So, what does this mean?

  • Take those vitamins. Your hair will thank you for keeping up on vital nutrients needed for growth and strength. (Disclaimer: This is my personal opinion and not medical advice. Always consult your health care provider.)

  • If you are a current extension wearer, you may find that your hair is no longer thick/strong enough to hold up the weight of your extensions. This means you may have to take out some wefts.

  • If your hair starts thinning on the top or crown, consider wearing a topper

  • Looking for a medical solution? Speak to a doctor about PRP treatment and topical or oral prescriptions. My preferred provider is Dr. Ashley at Glow Medspa! www.glowmedspavt.com
